When BRANZ sent out the brief requiring a contemporary staff facility to be built from sustainable materials the Nikau building was the solution. The first building to incorporate Pres-Lam structural frames, the Nikau building uses Pres-Lam to create the open spaces required with a simple and straight forward connection, not to mention the added seismic protection offered by Pres-Lam in one of New Zealand’s highest earthquake zones.

Significant cost and time savings were achieved on the project. The reduction of labour costs through the prefabrication of the Pres-Lam timber members meant that they were erected quickly and attached to the other building elements. Prefabrication is truly a strength of engineered timber design and Pres-Lam.

Integrating sustainability, cutting edge technology and Pres-Lam the Nikau building provides a bright new office space for the BRANZ staff to enjoy.
